Biography
Fashion designer, creative director, and visual artist Nompumelelo Nhlapho built luxury fashion house Gadat House as platform for multidisciplinary visual storytelling. Her work challenges the idea that luxury can only originate from the West, centering local stories through high fashion. Through fashion, film, and the intersection of dance and music, she focuses on empowerment, skills development, and expansive storytelling within the fashion industry. She drives culture forward by challenging inherited narratives about luxury and authority, centering Black women's leadership and multidisciplinary collaboration, and building a living cultural ecosystem that creates space for new voices, new aesthetics, and new ways of working.
