Melusi Mashawana

Skateboarder and community organizer Melusi Mashawana nurtures and maintains skateboarding culture through competitions, skills development, and creative expression. Recognizing the gap in support for skateboarders in his city, he creates opportunities for the community to express themselves through skateboarding, screenprinting, and jewelry design. He hosts regular skateboarding competitions to encourage growth and progress, working to make permanent changes for the next generation to thrive. He drives culture forward by evolving skateboarding community infrastructure, providing multiple creative outlets for expression, and ensuring the next generation has more support and facilities than the previous one, building on the foundation earlier skateboarders established.
