Biography
Painter Kamohelo Blessing Rooi honors the dignity of ordinary people, capturing the pulse of contemporary South African life. Through painting exploring culture, identity, and youth, bridging pop culture and streetwear with history, his practice becomes an act of empowerment grounded in gratitude, storytelling, and the ongoing search for meaning. Working slowly and deliberately with material choices and imagery rooted in everyday life, he explores resilience, unity, and collective healing. He drives culture forward by reclaiming visibility, agency, and authorship for Black figures historically pushed into shadows, documenting stories on their own terms, proving painting can be both record and proposal where reflection meets responsibility and coming together becomes an act of hope.
