Biography
Visual artist Candice Myataza works with paint on canvas to explore belonging, unity, and spirituality through intuitive, deeply personal practice. Beginning her journey in 2019 during Covid-19 isolation, she unpacks her experience growing up mixed-race in South Africa, exploring the in-betweenness of feeling suspended between two worlds. Rather than approaching race through division, her paintings focus on what exists beyond constructed boundaries: empathy, consciousness, and deeper qualities connecting human beings. Using earthy tones and delicate line work symbolizing diverse identities and universal essence, she drives culture forward by creating space for reflection, connection, and belonging, reminding viewers that culture evolves when we choose unity over division and embrace identity as healing.
